The fire horse energies

Since the 17th of February, we have entered a new lunar Chinese calendar’s sign: The Fire Horse!

I was quite surprised to see how many people were talking about it on social media this year… Never before had I seen so much energy going towards this change in Chinese astrology.

I guess last year wasn’t a challenging year just for me after all?… I don’t know many people who didn’t feel the shedding and the transformation that took place last year. It was simply phenomenal!

And as much as I was aware not to wish last year away, it was also a relief to say goodbye to it. Don’t get me wrong - with love and gratitude for all the lessons and blessings that came from it - but glad to farewell it nevertheless!

So what happened since? Have you felt a shift in energy? It obviously doesn’t happen from one day to the next and I certainly started to feel a slight shift from the end of last year.

It started when I finally found a home. Not just a rental at an exorbitant price like I was searching for most of the year..

No - my home. A simple beautiful three-bedroom with a magical garden where I can light fires, hold ceremonies, host gatherings and all the things I love creating. I remember distinctly when I felt a bit of a flow for the very first time in what felt like an eternity. I thought to myself: ‘Oh! I remember that feeling… it’s not gone forever!’ Of course, I knew it in theory but when it actualised, the relief I felt was beyond word! I wasn’t lost forever in a void of stuckness and bottomless rejections and heartache. Alleluia!

I basically had to put myself out of my own way and leave it up to the universe to take the reins. I felt onto my knees, in deep surrender, as I didn’t know what to do and how to do it any more.

I was done.

I had tried everything, look at all different angles, yet nothing was flowing.

What a humbling experience to completely surrender and throw my arms in the air, waiting for something greater to take charge. I had reached complete exhaustion but my trust never wavered.

I stayed with the constant mantra that a dear sister instilled in me in times of hardship:

‘It’s never rejection: it’s either a YES!, a NOT YET, or a I’VE GOT SOMETHING BETTER FOR YOU’

And yes - there was something better for me indeed!

The home. The financials. Everything started to flow from that point onwards… All of this happened two weeks before I was flying to my home country to spend time with my mum and my two boys. Everything lined up perfectly and things were being taken care of, from somewhere that was outside of myself. A divine plan, perfectly orchestrated. The only thing that remained strong within myself was full trust - that I was on a path that made no sense… but that one day, it would.

And it did!

In the most powerful and beautiful way!

So what now?

I have a safe home that I can call my own, a little bit of land that I’m the custodian of, in the suburbs of the Northern Rivers of NSW where I introduced myself and extended my gratitude over and over. Slowly, gently, my nervous system started to relax. I realised how much I had been operating from fight-or-flight mode. I started to sleep again… SO much! Sleep-ins were back on after decades of being non-existent and I could feel a deep sense of relaxation taking over my entire body.

I’ve been waiting for three big exhales in my life… and I just felt the first one!

What a relief!

Two to go…

It was literally impossible for me to build anything without a strong foundation and stability. Now that I feel safe and secure within these walls, I can feel it’s time to start building myself up and offering my gifts to my community.

The Fire Horse energies are all about forward movement. Once the old shedding is done, the new skin can jump on a horse and start going in the direction it wants and needs to go. Yes it might be fast. Yes it might gallop. A lot of emphasis has been put onto this in social media of late. A sense of excitement is felt in the air and many are expecting radical change overnight.

But it might take a few weeks before these energies fully settle into the field. Expecting huge change on a certain date is like expecting the end of the world-as-we-know-it on the 21st of December 2012 - the end of the Mayan Calendar. There was a shift and the world has changed ever since.

But it didn’t turn the world upside-down at that precise moment in time. So when is the speed and the forward motion going to happen?

For some, it already has.

For others, there might be a bit more shedding to be completed before they jump on their horse. Taking the time to fully let go of what is not meant to be carried forward is a crucial part of the process. Jumping ahead while holding onto old patterns and conditioning will not serve anyone.

Let’s not hurry, wanting to gallop straight away far afield.

Let’s take the time to fully ask ourselves honestly: Is there anything else that I need to let go before I use this new available energy? Are there any more limiting believes that I carry and need to offload before I take on this next project? And if the answer is yes, let’s be honest, a bit of patience and radical self-responsibility will serve us far better than urgency.

There is another aspect that is less spoken about the Fire Horse - perhaps because people prefer speed over stillness.

A horse doesn’t gallop all the time. It doesn’t run at full speed ahead 24/7.

I am certainly not a horse specialist but I do know a little about horses after doing some equine-therapy sessions. The greatest gifts I have received from them is the gift of ultimate presence. They tap into people’s energetic field and sense if the individual is working from a stressed out nervous system or not. And let’s face it - most people are. Horses have the ability to co-regulate, bringing us back into our parasympathetic nervous system and recalibrate our entire energy field by just being and standing beside us.

They are incredible creatures!

Have you ever stared into a horse’s eyes while being angry or agitated? They will let you know about it! They act as mirrors and will not absorb what isn’t theirs. They are very clear about their own boundaries.

So what can we learn from them? PRESENCE! Being fully in the here and now without agenda. It may sound simple but it is rare and powerful! By being fully in the moment, we have access to our own inner wisdom, our infinite source of knowledge that we all carry inside of us, and our original blueprint. From that place, and that place only, can we contemplate the idea to mount our horse.

Take a moment today to meet your horse.. Let me take you on a little journey and hopefully inspire you to take some time out with this visualisation.

Taking a comfortable sit in a relaxed space where you know you will be able to drop in without any interruption. As you close down the eyes, I invite you to imagine what your horse looks like. Is he big, small, wild, domesticated? What colour is he? Is he looking at you or the other way? Once you made contact, don’t rush! Introduce yourself and ask him permission to touch his forehead. Take your time. Resist the temptation to do it your own way only, it takes two people to cocreate some magic! When you had plenty of time starring at each other’s eyes and both feel ready, gently mount your beautiful and singular horse. As you start bringing movement into your visualisation, take the time to walk slowly, taking in the views. Where are you? A wild landscape? Mongolian steppes, luscious forests? Synchronise your breaths and feel your bodies moving together, embarking on a unique journey for this year ahead. Once you have become used to each others, decide when it’s time to take it a step further. It’s not going to be the same speed as the people around you, it will have its own unique pace. Comparison isn’t going to serve this journey! Honour your rhythm. When the time is right - embrace the fire.

Fire is the energy of transformation!

This energy might be dangerous for the unaware but if you use it wisely… It is a gift!

It represents the spark that ignites within us, driving us towards our passions. It illuminates our path, giving us the confidence to overcome all obstacles that are in the way. There is no better time to use the energy to bring ideas into form and pursue your biggest dreams. Everyone has a passion deep inside themselves and the fire energy can ignite it in a very unique way! What is your heart asking you to do? What makes you feel alive? Where can you take one small step beyond your comfort zone? If you are willing to face your own limitations, layer by layer, there is an abundance of passion and desire awaiting for you!

In other words, it can be purifying or terrifying!

The choice is yours!

In Chinese astrology, this energy combined with the Horse comes around every sixty years… Exciting times ahead!

As I’m writing this, a little smile is forming on my face as I imagine an army of us - each on our own beautiful horse. An army of souls that have worked on themselves earnestly and continually for the last decades. Who have shed layers of conditioning, tears and have felt ripped apart at times. Now standing side by side with an open heart and a true desire to live life in full presence, humility and deep gratitude.

It isn’t about what everyone’s doing with their lives, it’s about HOW we’re doing it.

The time has come to become the full version of ourselves and step into the power that we all have. It doesn’t need to be flashy nor grant… But it must be led from the heart.
